Do you use Twitter for search or for finding latest news? Of course
Twitter is a social networking site, but over the years people have also started using it as a search engine. Even I find Twitter an amazing search tool especially if I am searching about current happenings or news.
For example if there’s an important cricket match going on, which you don’t want to miss, but you have important office work as well, what will you do? Twitter can help you out. Just type 1 or 2 words about the cricket match (team names, player names, etc) and see scores and personal comments flowing in! Isn’t Twitter an amazing search engine? Yeah, it’s an awesome search engine especially when it comes to news. It works better than Google News and even other news sources.
Well, no matter how amazing Twitter is, I find it a bit slow while searching and the results it delivers are sometimes not up to the mark. Some times, it hangs up, some times the same tweets pop up. Not anymore friends! I have found a cool free web service, Down Tweet which allows me to sort our tweets and read them easily. Why I prefer Down Tweet over Twitter.com search is because Down Tweet works directly with Twitter API, so in case Twitter.Com appears to be slow, Down Tweet still functions normally at the same pace.
What Does Down Tweet Do?
Down Tweet simple sorts out the tweets you choose in various topics. By default it has 29 categories like technology, tennis, art & design, etc. You can choose the category you want and enjoy live stream of tweets revolving only around that topic.
Down Tweet makes reading tweets easier and actually fun! I prefer Down Tweet over the default Twitter search tool. Down Tweet is just more simple and something I call innovative!
Down Tweet also allows you to create a custom feed of Twitter users you want. For example you can create a custom feed named Apps and add Twitter users tweeting about apps. This enables you to see all the latest happenings around the topic of your choice instantly!
The choice is yours – a little slow Twitter or innovative Down Tweet! Choose wisely. I chose Down Tweet :)
