Not many like to delete their Gmail account due to Google’s first class service, good features, easy to use interface, regular developments and of course trust and reliability. But if you are one among those wanting to delete their Gmail account may be to create a new Gmail account or because you want to test a new service, here’s a short tutorial to delete Gmail account.
Delete G-Mail Account
1. Log in to your G-Mail account. Here’s a screenshot showing you how to log in to your Gmail account.
2. Click on your name appearing at the top right corner of your screen and from the menu that drops down, select Account Settings option.
3. You will be redirected to your account settings page. This is the place where you can manage your Google account, add or remove Google services and even delete your Gmail account.
Click on the Edit link next to My Products.
4. Click on Remove Gmail permanently to delete your Gmail account.
5. You will then see a confirmation message. Select “Yes, I want to permanently delete YOUR EMAIL ID and remove it from my Google Account.
6. Add your new e-mail account under New email address. This email will be used to log into your Google account to access other Google services and products.
7. Enter your current Gmail password to confirm that you are the real account holder.
Before performing the last step, make sure that you really want to delete your Gmail account as it’s unrecoverable. Gmail account once lost, is lost forever! Before I delete my Gmail account, I always consider taking a backup of my Gmail account. I recommend you to do the same!
8. After confirming that you really want to delete your Gmail account, click on Remove Gmail.
Your Gmail account will now be closed and deleted and all the e-mails, contacts, in short all your data will be deleted permanently.
This just deletes your Gmail account and not your Google account. This will not delete your Google account and you will still be able to use other Google services like Google Analytics, Google Adsense, Google Adwords and many others.
So what next? Moving to a new email provider or creating a new Gmail account for yourself?
